For those of you in the know about the Goleta Gap Wildfire, it's responsible for the outages of eiffel.com. We have UPSs attached to all machines and servers but when the power is out for that long the batteries just can't cope and each and every server and machine politely shuts itself off.

Eiffel and a VFD

A project I started a few years ago (I could say completed but I got bored) I've recently revisited and just updated to use newer Eiffel syntax. It concerned itself with something not too often published uses for Eiffel, an API stack whose bottom layer interacts with low level system calls to manipulate hardware.
Eiffel, Sing# and Singularity

Eiffel gets a little mention in the influence of Spec# and Sing#, used in the authoring of Microsoft's Singularity research OS. Check out the mention on Ars Technica
A little help for Mac users

I've been in hiatus from using EiffelStudio on the Mac for a while because since the upgrade to Leopard, EiffelStudio exhibited some strange behavior related to expose actions. Find Class Files Fast in EiffelStudio

If, like me, you are always wanting to get to an Eiffel class file from within EiffelStudio there's a simple external command you can invoke that will launch a file browser selecting the editing class' associated file.
This tip is only for Windows.
Open the External Commands Editor using the Tools | External Commands menu item, and add a new command.
Looking forward to 6.1 (and 6.2)

It has been a while since I last blogged here. We've all been busy with wrapping up 6.1 and I've been busy working on extension points for EiffelStudio.
EiffelStudio Completion Tip

Here's a another great (if I do say so myself) tip for EiffelStudio's completion.
Looking Forward to EiffelStudio 6.1

There's always something interesting in the works here at Eiffel Software but not everyone wants to use betas or worse yet the features are not yet available in any beta. Such is the case for a new tool called the Errors and Warnings Tool. It doesn't take much to think about what this tool's actual function is but it's a necessary and long overdue addition to EiffelStudio.
EiffelEnvision Editor and Eiffel for .NET

It has been a while since I've created a blog entry, there's actually been a lot going on in my blogging hiatus. From topics concerning EiffelEnvision, Eiffel for .NET, EiffelStudio and open source EiffelStudio projects.
